Polish Metrology – Cooperation for Measurement Quality
For weight-enforcement systems (“weight speed cameras”) to operate legally and be used for issuing penalties, measurements must be unquestionable both technically and legally. No one should receive an unjustified fine. Therefore, close cooperation between science and public authorities is essential.
This project is carried out within the Polish Metrology national programme. An expert team from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków (Department of Metrology and Electronics) joins forces with the Central Office of Measures (GUM).
AGH provides measurement technology, expertise in sensor systems, and advanced data-processing algorithms. GUM ensures that appropriate regulations, legal frameworks, and verification procedures are established, guaranteeing that every weighing system operates with high accuracy and reliability.
This collaboration combines technological innovation with strict metrological standards, creating a solid foundation for legally valid and trustworthy WIM measurements.
